Tomorrow evening Darlaston returns to league action under lights when they travel to AFC Bridgnorth.

Bridgnorth currently occupies 17th place in the League having played fourteen games, won two, drawn two, and lost ten. Within that time, they have played three Buildbase FA Vase games, beating Rocester 2-1 in the first qualifying earning them a tie against MFL Premier Division side Lye Town. Bridgnorth won the tie 4-3 on penalties as the scores were level at 2-2 at full time, putting them in the draw for the first round proper. They were drawn to face Coventry Sphinx away from their Crown Meadow ground.

Since the teams last met on August Bank Holiday Monday at The Paycare Stadium, Bridgnorth has played a further seven league games. After their 7-1 defeat, Bridgnorth’s played two home games on the trot losing both 2-1 to Heath Hayes and 2-0 to Dudley Sports. After beating Rocester in The Vase Bridgnorth traveled to Shropshire rivals Shawbury United and returned home on the end of a 4-0 loss.

The following Saturday Bridgnorth welcomed Paget Rangers to their Crown Meadow ground, a Scott Becker goal secured Bridgnorth’s first win of the season 1-0. On the last in September Bridgnorth played their second qualifying round of this season's Buildbase FA Vase against them MFL Premier Division pacesetters Lye Town. After 90 minutes the scores were level at 2-2 Scott Becker and Nathan Derrick scored the all-important goals after Lye had had Musa Ceesay sent off for two yellow cards. AFC Bridgnorth went through to the first round proper after beating Lye 4-3 on penalties

In their first game in October, it was back to League action as Bridgnorth hosted Wolverhampton Sporting at their Crown Meadow ground losing 4-1. Up next was the return fixture at Heath Hayes in which Bridgnorth secured their second win of the season 2-1, with goals from Kevin Buxton and Nathan Derrick.

Bridgnorth’s last league game was a 2-0 loss at Coventry Copsewood. Last Saturday Bridgnorth traveled to Coventry Sphinx who play in the Uhlsport United Counties Premier South. After having forward Anwar Olugbon sent off with a straight red card Bridgnorth lost 9-0.

Darlaston meanwhile, beat MFL Premier Division side AFC Wulfrunians on penalties in the JW Hunt Cup last week following their 2-0 win at Shawbury in the League, so Dean Gill’s men have had a virtually 7-day break from competitive football. I

It hasn’t been a total break as the squad trained on and they are looking forward to tomorrow night's fixture when a large contingent of Darlaston fans are expected to travel to the Shropshire border town.
