Darlaston Town tomorrow return to league action tomorrow traveling to Wolverhampton Sporting Community looking to put their first points of the season on the board after being knocked out of the Buildbase FA Vase last weekend.
Wolverhampton Sporting last week registered their first points of the season with a 3-2 away win at Cradley Town. Two goals from top scorer Chad Birch and ex-Darlaston player Adam Skeldon also getting on the score sheet. So far this season Wolves Sporting have played four games, losing out to Bewdley Town 1-0 in the first qualifying round of the F.A. Vase on the opening day of the season.
In their first league game the following weekend a trip to Darlaston’s neighbours Bilston Town was a high scoring game with Bilston winning 4-2 thanks to goals from Bed Podmore, Liam Matthews and a double from substitute Kieran Miller with Chad Birch once again on the score sheet with Callum Devlin also scoring from the bench.
The following mid-week Sporting once again conceded four goals, this time four unanswered goals at Worcester Raiders with a goal each from Zaqib Hussain and centre half Jordan Stoddard and a brace from prolific marksman Dylan Hart.
Darlaston meanwhile enter the fixture with only a single win this season and that was on opening day in the F.A. Vase when they beat Midland League Premier Division side Heather St. John’s 2-0 at the Paycare Ground.
In the opening league fixture again at home Shawbury United won 3-2. Darlaston have since played three consecutive away games, tomorrow being the fourth.
A 3-0 midweek loss at Wolverhampton Casuals was followed bu an unlucky 1-0 reverse at Shifnal who breached Darlo’s backline in the 75th minute. Nick Lewis’s las game of course was in the Vase at Studley when 5 minutes of schoolboy defending early in the second half cost Darlaston dear.
Tomorrow’s fixture is important for both teams for various reasons, but Darlaston’s aim is to get some points onto the league table and achieve their first point or points of the season.
Manager Nick Lewis has a virtually fit squad available for selection with the exception of long-term injury Luke Wilson therefore Lewis and his management team are hopeful that Tyrone Clarke-O’Connell will play some part in tomorrow’s game having been passed fit from his broken hand.
The game is being played at Wolverhampton Sporting Community’s Pride Park ground, Hazel Lane, WALSALL, WS6 6AA.
