Match Preview

Simon Cox13 Jan - 17:42

Darlaston Town tomorrow welcome Avro to The Paycare Stadium hopefully for the third attempt to play this league fixture after the previous two were postponed.

Tomorrow’s game is may well be subject to a lunchtime pitch inspection if the forecast of heavy rain for this morning and early afternoon, this on to top of the significant fall of snow and ice from late last week which of course has now thawed. We will notify everyone if an inspection is arranged or needed.

Avro having had no competitive football unusually between 22nd November and 20th December has restarted their season in great form. Their last four games have seen them maintain their early season form with three wins and a draw.

On their return to action at home Avro beat out of form Stafford Rangers 3-0, followed by a Boxing Day derby win over bottom club Trafford 2-0. A second derby win over Mossley at home 2-0 on News Years Day, saw the club rise back into second place in the league. Last Saturday was a huge game as is this coming Saturday, they travelled to inform third placed side Bury and after going behind after 20 minutes they secured a 1-1 draw. This coming Saturday whilst Darlaston travel to Bury, Avro welcome current league leaders Lower Breck to their Vestacare Stadium.

Avro have the leagues leading scorer Kyle Hawley who has scored 20 goals in 22 appearances, Harry Salt is next in the scoring charts with six followed by Sam Davidson on three

Darlaston go into the fixture with two home wins in their last three games over Trafford and Shifnal Town, their only recent blip was a late loss on Sporting Khalsa on Boxing Day after fighting back from being 2-0 down at half time to 2-2. Recent additions to the squad have obviously strengthened an already talented group of young players who are clearly getting used to the physical demands of the league.

But despite recent results the huge work ethic within the squad and Management‘s team desire to succeed has not stopped and they are certainly leaving no stone unturned as they prepare for yet another vital fixture.
