
Tomorrow at The Paycare Stadium Darlaston Town welcome Shifnal Town for a really important Northern Premier League fixture.
Both clubs are at the opposite ends of the table, Shifnal, after being promoted last season through the play-offs from The Midland Football League Premier Division, have had a really good season so far, currently occupying 4th place after playing 23 games, winning 12, drawing 7 and losing 4 securing 43 points, and they are just three points off second placed Avro.
Their last six games have produced three wins, two draws and a loss away at Nantwich Town (1-0). Both draws came on the road at league leaders Lower Breck (1-1) and in form cup giant killing Clitheroe (2-2). The three wins were at Atherton Collieries (2-1), and home wins over Kidsgrove Athletic (3-2) and on Boxing Day Congleton Town (3-1).
Shaquille Leachman-Whittingham is the club’s top scorer with 10 goals so far, but recent additional Matthew Barnes-Homer has scored 4 goals in the last five games and both are clearly dangermen.
The clubs met on August Bank Holiday Monday at The Acoustafoam Stadium the thrilling game ended 1-1, Keiron Berry scored after 21 minutes, Jack Hodnett equalised for Shifnal Town right on the half time interval.
Darlaston meanwhile, after suffered another late loss at Sporting Khalsa on Boxing Day to lose 3-2 after coming back from 2-0 down at half time only to lose to an 86 minute penalty. Since the loss the squad have trained a couple of times and are looking forward to tomorrow’s fixture.
