Darlaston Town tomorrow afternoon return to league action with a trip once again up the M6, this time not too far as we wiil face our friends at Chasetown.
Chasetown have recently changed their management structure after long-time manager Mark Swann resigned from his position for family reasons and the club appointed his trusty assistant Jamie Hawkins as First Team Manager, after he had spent five years on Swannies management team.
Chasetown are currently in mid-table in 9th position after playing fifteen games they have won 7, drawn 3 and lost 5 and in their last 7 league fixtures The Scholars have won two including a 6-0 win at home over Bootle in Hawkins’ first game in charge, and have lost 4 and drawn 1. Their wins came at home against the aforementioned Bootle and Newcastle Town with a 3-0 home The draw was also at home against Mossley. Losses were primarily on the road losing to Bury (4-0), Nantwich (3-0) and Avro (2-1) with only a single home loss against Atherton Collieries (2-1).
Chasetown over recent seasons have had a very settled squad and like ourselves were moved from the NPL Midlands Division into the West two seasons ago, a mid-table finish was achieved in their first season, and last season they made the play-offs finishing fourth losing out to Congleton Town on penalties after a 2-2 draw. Over recent season’s the Chasetown s and adding key individuals over recent reasons the Chasetown squad has been very settled with just one or two additions, and given last season’s excellent fourth placed finish they were many peoples favourite for promotion. Chasetown’s excellent ground and facility will be known to many Darlaston fans having played the Walsall Senior Cup Final there at the end of last season and the club is looking forward to visiting the outstanding facilities once again.
Last week’s draw at home to Nantwich Town saw many positives for Darlaston’s Management Team and this week they have been able to work more with the players as well as trying to strengthen the squad and they will be hoping to get al least one registered in time to play tomorrow.
