Darlaston Town are once again playing at The Paycare Stadium tomorrow afternoon when they welcome second placed and inform team Atherton Collieries
Atherton Collieries go into tomorrow’s fixture having only lost one game in the last nine league fixtures which was away at Bootle 21 in the middle of this month. The loss was followed by two wins against Congleton Town (4-2) last Saturday at their Dreams2Reality Stadium. Last Tuesday evening they beat Chasetown 2-1 at Chasetown
Currently the Colls are as mentioned second in the league having played 13 games winning 8 drawing one losing 4. They are two points behind league leaders Lower Breck and two ahead of Bury, both teams have a game in hand over The Colls.
In recent seasons Atherton Collieries were promoted as champions from the Northern Premier League Division One West at the end of the 2018/19 into the NPL Premier Division where they remained for 5 years (two of the five were the COVID years). But the club suffered relegation after finishing bottom of the table in the 2023/24 season, therefore last season was their first back in Step 4 and they finished in 15th place.
Darlaston meanwhile this week were without a midweek fixture following last weekends defeat to 3-1 defeat by Clitheroe at the Paycare Stadium. All week the Management Team have been working relentlessly not only with the players but also to recruit some new additions to the squad. Tomorrow The Citizens will be without skipper Alex Foreshaw who starts his three game ban for his red card last
