Darlaston Town return to league action with a bang, starting a run of 10 games in 33 days with a visit from Vauxhall Motors tomorrow afternoon to the Paycare Stadium, kick-off 3.00 p.m. and a trip to Stalybridge Celtic for a re-arranged league fixture next Tuesday evening.
Tomorrow’s visitors, Vauxhall Motors – The Motormen, earned promotion into the Northern Premier League West Division as Champions of the North West Counties Premier Division in the 2022/23 season. Their first season in the league saw a 16th place finish. Last season the club qualified for the play-off places finishing in 5th position, losing out to eventual play-off winners Hednesford in the play-off semi-final 3-1, in front of a crowd of 2,200.
So far this season Vauxhall Motors have played just five game in the league and occupy 16th place on place below Darlaston, which is obviously a false position given recent seasons’ performances and they have had very much a stop/start to the season having only played two league games upto and including Bank Holiday Monday on 25th August 2025. Their last fixture was on 10th September 2025 when they lost 2-1 away at Avro. In the FA Trophy The motormen lost to next Saturday opponents Congleton Town on 6th September whilst Darlaston lost to Bedworth United on penalties.
Of their five league fixtures so far, they have won one, drawn three and lost one. Their only win in the league came against Newcastle Town on Bank Holiday Monday at home with drawn fixtures against Chasetown (0-0), Runcorn Linnets (2-2) both away from home and on the opening day of the season a 1-1 draw against Stalybridge Celtic.
Top scorers for the Vauxhall Motors this season are Toby Jones, Adam Hughes and Finley Heath all with two goals each.
Darlaston meanwhile, after having a two week break from action, have trained well under the management team led by Dean Gill and with the addition of Solihull Moors first team squad member Billy Corns and buoyed by the re-signing of Fabian Salmon from Wolverhampton Wanderers until January, Darlaston will go into tomorrow’s fixture looking for their first home points of the season.
