Following the Bank Holiday weekend that saw Darlaston Town secure a point at Shifnal Town on Bank Holiday Monday, the team return back to The Paycare Stadium tomorrow to welcome more new visitors and opponents Mossley who are Greater Manchester based for a Northern Premier West Division League fixture, kick-off at 3.00 p.m.
Mossley have been members of the Northern Premier League since earning promotion from The North West Counties League as Champions. Just two seasons later The Lilywhites were promoted as Champions once again into the Northern Premier League Premier Division lasting just one season when they were relegated in 2006/07 season back into The Northern Premier League Division One North where they have remained since.
Last season Mossley finished mid-table in 13th position winning 15 of their 42 games. So far, this term, the Lilywhites were beaten on opening day of the season by Bradford Park Avenue in The Emirates FA Cup. A second loss at home on the opening day of the league season losing to newly promoted Lower Break saw a difficult start for Mossley. Three consecutive draws 2-2 at Congelton Town, 0-0 at home against Clitheroe and 1-1 away at Nantwich Town saw the club climb the table . On Bank Holiday Monday in their last fixture, Mossley suffered their second home defeat of the season losing 1-0 to local side Avro.
Mossley’s results have led them to them occupying 19th place in the league table with three points. The Lilywhites goals this season have been scored by forwards Reece Webb-Foster with two and Oumar Camera.
Darlaston will of course be looking for their first points of the season on home soil after suffering two home defeats at the hands of Stafford Rangers and Bootle last Saturday, but Darlaston remain unbeaten so far away from the Paycare Stadium with two wins and a draw. Goalkeeper Zack Foster suffered an injury on Bank Holiday Monday following an incident late in the game, which now means Zack will have to serve the F.A’s Rehabilitation Protocol for head injuries and would have missed tomorrow’s game due to suspension anyway after being sent off against Witton Albion. The club have moved quickly to secure the services of Aaron Flahavan from Redditch United, the ex-Solihull Moors National League player has joined the club on a permanent basis
