It’s a busy turnaround for Darlaston Town after yesterday’s game because tomorrow they travel to play second placed Shifnal Town for the second league fixture over the Bank Holiday weekend kick off 3pm.
Shifnal Town were promoted from the Midland Football League last season via the playoffs after finishing the season as runners up to Lichfield City. In the playoffs Shifnal beat firstly Brocton 3-2 at the Acoustafoam Stadium where they also beat Northwich 1874 2-0 in the final to be promoted into the NPL West Division
Over the summer, Manger Connor Patterson and his team have recruited well including bringing in Harry Bower Shaq Whittingham, Danico Johnson and Craig Pritchard as well as retaining quite a number of last season successful squad.
So far this season The Town have played five league games after losing like Darlaston on the opening day of the season in the Emirates FA Cup, they have won three league fixtures losing two, ironically their first two defeats came in their first two league games at home the Clithero and away at Chasetown. Their last 3 games have produced two home wins over Stafford Rangers (3-0) and Newcastle Town (1-0) and yesterday a 2-1 win at Avro Lewis Jarman and Harry Bower on the score sheet.
Darlaston suffered their second home defeat of the season yesterday against the very good and strong Bootle side and of course they will be looking to continue their good away form tomorrow afternoon. Manager Dean Gill will of course ensure his players are best prepared for the fixture.
