Match Preview

Simon Cox21 Apr - 13:11

Tomorrow on Bank Holiday Monday it’s a massive local derby at the Paycare Stadium when Darlaston welcome from 3 miles up the Black Country Road Sporting Khalsa.

A large crowd is expected, over the past two seasons the clubs have had some classic close games including a televised to BBC One FA Cup tie which needed a replay at The Paycare Stadium which produced the clubs largest ever crowd of well over 1,000 people.

In Darlaston‘s first season in the Northern Premier League despite missing out on the promotion play-offs Dean Gill’s squad are pushing hard for a sixth-place finish helped with the 2-1 win at Grantham Town yesterday afternoon, whereas Sporting Khalsa had a big 3-2 win at the Guardian Warehousing Arena over fellow promotion hopeful’s Long Eaton United.

The clubs met at Khalsa on Boxing Day and took all 3 points Simeon Cobourne scoring in the 80th minute to give the home side the all important 2-1 win.

Tomorrow’s opponents are in fine form at the moment four wins in the last six games and two losses and will go into tomorrow’s game desperate for the win to keep their play-off hopes alive, especially as Worcester City are without a game. The win will set up next weekends final game nicely. But don’t expect Darlaston to roll over because that will not happen.

Khalsa have a very dangerous front line in Simeon Cobourne and Andre Landell both players are in the leagues top six scorers with 20 and 16 goals respectfully this season.

Although both squads are well now to each other as well as the managers and management teams tomorrow there will be no favours given as both teams will want to get one over their biggest local rivals.
