Tomorrow, Darlaston Town welcome the newly crowned Northern Premier League Midlands Division Champions Quorn after their 3-0 win the Stotto Stadium last Saturday over Wellingborough Town.
The season has been outstanding for Quorn, winning the League with eight games remaining and of their thirty-four game season so far, they have won twenty-eight, drawn five and lost just one game against third placed Long Eaton United 3-2.
Darlaston and Quorn met for the first ever time at the Stotto Stadium at the end of November. Both teams played their part in an outstanding game, Darlaston taking a 16th minute lead through Ben Podmore header. Quorn equalised in the second half Mason Frizelle scoring in the 76th minute.
Quorn’s form has obviously been outstanding throughout the season, their last 6 games they have won five and drawn one, scoring 18 goals and conceding just 2, whereas Darlaston’s form has seen them win three of their last six games, drawn one and lost two, so as always Darlaston will once again be the underdogs. They will be without striker Aaron Bishop who starts his five game suspension after his sending off last week at Long Eaton United.
Quorn’s last six games have been split equally three at home including last week’s Championship winning 3-0 over Wellingborough Town. Along with wins over Coleshill Town 3-0, Bedworth United 6-0 at The Stotto Stadium. The away wins have been at Hinckley LR 1-0 and AFC Rushden & Diamonds 3-0. The only draw was at Grantham Town who equalised through Max Cooke in the 90th minute to level the scores at 2-2.
The Red’s top scorers are led by Paddy Webb with fourteen goals, followed by player/manager Ryan Beswick on thirteen, along with Zack Goodson and Kane Noble on twelve each.
Darlaston meanwhile, after suffering a tough loss at Long Eaton United last Saturday which saw two players sent off, fortunately skipper Alexander Foreshaw’s has been rescinded as the clubs claim for wrongful dismissal was upheld by an FA Disciplinary Panel yesterday and Alex will therefore be eligible for selection.
Darlaston has a fantastic win in mid-week at Worcester City through the exceptional squad performance and saw them do the double over the fourth placed and promotion chasing club.
