Match Preview

After a great week at The Paycare Stadium for Darlaston Town starting with an important 1-0 win in the league last Saturday over Bedworth United followed by a brilliant night on Wednesday which produced one of those “special nights” at the Paycare , when assisted by the supporters Darlaston beat in form Chasetown 2-0 to reach the Walsall Senior Cup Final.

The week finishes tomorrow the club return to league action with one of the longest trips of the season to Nottinghamshire based Long Eaton United.

Long Eaton are currently third in the league having won nineteen of their thirty-three games so far this season, drawn six and lost eight. The clubs met at the Paycare Stadium in mid-November with Darlaston winning 1-0, thanks to a Tyler Bruck goal scored just after five minutes.

The Blues have been in brilliant form winning their last seven fixtures, their last loss was at the end of January at Worcester City. Their unbeaten run started with two in early February firstly a 5-0 win at Grange Park over Boldmere St. Michaels followed by a 4-0 over Loughborough Students at the University. An important 3-2 win over second placed Corby Town followed Grange Park, the win closed the gap on Corby setting up an important race for second place which controls the play-offs at the end of the season.

Further wins followed away from home at Bedworth United (3-1)and a huge 5-0 win days after Anstey Nomads in mid-week. The last two games in the seven game unbeaten run are a 3-0 home win over Shepshed Dynamo and last Saturday a 2-0 win at Sutton Coldfield Town.

Dangermen for The Blues are James Shaw with 21, Evan Garnett who is on 19 and finally James Taylor with 16.

Therefore, despite Darlaston’s recent results they will travel to Nottinghamshire tomorrow as big underdogs, for the first of four huge fixtures against four of the top five teams in the division which will decide if the club will make the play-offs or not. Rest assured manager Dean Gill, his management team and squad will be doing their upmost to break into the top five come the end of April.

There are still seats available on the coach for the game tomorrow, anyone interested should contact Simon Cox as soon as possible by social media message or email to s.cox@darlastontown1874fc.com
