Darlaston Town are on their travels again tomorrow in the Northern Premier League Midlands Division, this time a local fixture against Sutton Coldfield Town at their Domino's Arena kick off 3 pm.
The clubs have already played each other twice this season, at the Paycare Stadium in October in a league fixture, Darlaston winning 3-1 Kieran Cook scoring twice for Darlaston late in the game after Rivel Mardenborough had given the Citizens and early lead. The second game was at The Royals Domino's Arena in the Birmingham Senior Cup, Darlaston lost 2-0.
Sutton Coldfield Town are currently mid-table in 10th position and have won twelve of their twenty-seven home games so far this season, losing eleven and drawing four games. The clubs are separated by four points and over three places because Darlaston are currently eighth in the league after dropping points recently.
Tomorrow’s hosts are in similar form to Darlaston and have won three, drawn three of their last six fixtures. The run started with a big Boxing Day big 4-1 defeat of local rivals Boldmere St. Michaels at Boldmere’s Community Stadium, three consecutive home games followed starting with a 2-1 loss to Coleshill Town followed by a 2-1 win over Rushden & Diamonds.
The last of the three consecutive home games saw Sutton Coldfield bow out of the Birmingham Senior Cup following a 5-0 defeat by Aston Villa’s successful U23 side. Next up was 2-1 loss at Hinckley LR. The Royals last game two weeks ago produced a big 1-0 over Worcester City at the Domino's Arena. Last Saturday The Royals were without a league fixture.
The club scoring charts are headed by forward Owen Parry with 15 goals, Kory Burke with 5 and three players on 3 goals each, Cameron Collins, Charlie Dowd and Ryan Edmunds.
Tomorrow is yet another big fixture for everyone connected with Darlaston Town, especially after the recent results at The Paycare Stadium. The Citizens will go into tomorrow’s game after two consecutive draws where they have conceded second half goals against Coleshill Town and Lye Town in the league, but on Wednesday evening the Citizens beat Gornal Athletic 3-1.
As always, Dean Gill will have a selection headache with several players carrying injuries and knocks, some may require fitness tests prior to the game.
