Tomorrow afternoon Darlaston Town return to the Paycare Stadium to play a re-arranged fixture that should have been played on New Year’s Day at local rivals Boldmere St. Michaels.
The clubs met back on August Bank Holiday at Boldmere’s Amber Arena and Community Stadium, Darlaston opened the scoring through Aaron Bishop who chipped keeper Jonathan Brown only for Liam Murphy to equalise nine minutes later and the game finished 1-1.
Boldmere’s long term manager Neil Kitchen resigned at the end of January to return to Stafford Rangers. Despite advertising to replace Kitchen Boldmere decided to appoint Youth Team Manager Ben Roberts in a caretake role until the end of the season.
Under Roberts management, Boldmere have won one of their last six games drawn one and lost four. The win came at home against against Bedworth United thanks to goals from Kevin Ngombi and Theo Rowe from the penalty spot. The Mikes earned a 0-0 draw at bottom club Grantham Town.
Two of the four losses have been at home against Coventry Sphinx, and last Saturday against AFC Rushden & Diamonds. Playing away at promotion chasing Long Eaton and Anstey Nomads saw Boldmore lose 5-0 on each occasion. The run of results have seen tomorrows opponents drop five or six places to 15th in the table..
The Mikes top scorers are Liam Murphy with eight, Jake Collins with five along with Kevin Ngombi and Theo Rowe is on four.
Darlaston meanwhile after their fantastic win at Corby Town last week have been able to rest up once again, training twice, and given the recent breaks should now be injury free, although Manager Dean Gill will have some selection issues tomorrow due to player availability and suspensions.

The club and the manager have been asking all week for the local community and all Darlaston supporters to come and support the team in their run into the season. Considering in August where the club would have hoped to be, the management team and players have far exceeded expectations and are now in a position to fight and crash into the play-off places to try and gain promotion to Step 3, which for a club like Darlaston Town is unthinkable and a magnificent achievement.
Therefore, with the help of the community and all Darlaston Town supporters it will give the club and the players the best opportunity of reaching the play-offs.
We hope to see you at The Paycare tomorrow afternoon
