Darlaston Town tomorrow will play their last home league game of the league season against visitors Whitchurch Allport.
Whitchurch, including tomorrow’s game have three games left to play to finish their season, one of which is a game against Stone Old Alleynians which was scheduled to be played next Tuesday but the MFL Midland Football League Board have given the fixture priority to Darlaston Town because of the play-offs and we are extremely thankful to Whitchurch to agreeing to this change.
Tomorrow’s opponents are in very good form having won four of their last six fixtures. First up was a close run affair at play-off hopefuls Stourport Swifts which Whitchurch lost 3-2 having been 1-0 in front at half-time, the following week Whitchurch beat Romulus 1-0 back in Shropshire. Mid-week, prior to Easter Whitchurch travelled to the Black Country and beat Tividale 3-1 at the Beeches, followed by a trip to near neighbours Uttoxeter Town on Easter Saturday, Whitchurch won at a canter 5-. Two days later on Easter Monday they beat Wolverhampton Casuals by the same scoreline.
In their last game last Saturday, Whitchurch suffered a harsh defeat at home by AFC Wulfrunians by a late 85th minute goal.
Following Darlaston’s 2-0 win at Whitchurch in early September, Bishop and Kalo Harrison scoring this after Ben Podmore was shown a straight red card just before the half-time interval Whitchurch Alport’s long serving manager of seven years Luke Goddard stepped down and was replaced by Adam Shillcock who had recently left near neighbours Market Drayton. Since Shillcock’s appointment Whitchurch Allport’s results have improved, and they have risen from the bottom end of the Division into a comfortable mid-table position.
Darlaston will of course go into tomorrow’s game on the back of five consecutive wins against top eight opposition and having beaten Highgate United last night 4-0 at the Paycare Stadium.
Darlaston players will of course be extremely tired given the number of recent games they have played in such a short space of time, but the management team and players will give tomorrow’s opponents the utmost respect as they have deserved and the fixture, given Whitchurch’s recent performances and results, will be a tough test for Darlaston Town.
The game kicks off at 3.00 p.m.
Gates open at 1.00 p.m. along with the bar serving its usual pre-match hot and cold food.
Admission: Adults £7.00, Concessions £5.00, Children Under 10 FREE
Programmes: £2.00 available from the payhut.
We hope to see as many Darlaston fans as possible at the clubs last home league game of the season tomorrow, as the team and club will be pushing for a place in the end of season play-offs.
