Tomorrow afternoon Darlaston Town are on their travels once again, this time into Shropshire to play Shifnal Town .

The clubs met earlier in the season at the Paycare Stadium, Darlaston running out 4-3 winners in a close game with both sides going into the half-time interval level at 1-1 after a James Rowland penalty for Darlaston was equalised by Lewis Jarman penalty for Shifnal Town. The second half proved eventful, Rowland scoring his second penalty of the game followed shortly after by Aaron Bishop scoring putting Darlaston 3-1 in front. The home side made it 4-1 with captain Alex Foreshaw scoring mid-way through the half, but two late goals in the last 10 minutes of the game from Josh Thomas and Joe Cuff set up a grandstand finish and Darlaston held on for all three points.

In Shifnal’s last three league fixtures goals have been hard to come by, firstly a 1-0 loss at second placed Lichfield City the following mid-week Shifnal beat Stone Old Alleynians by the same scoreline at home, and in their last game two weeks ago Shifnal played out a 0-0 draw with promotion chasing Studley once again at the Acoustafoam Stadium.

Shifnal have suffered two recent postponements at Market Drayton Town in a TJ Vickers Sons cup, last Saturday, Shifnal without a league fixture due to Stourport Swifts being in the Isuzu FA Vase, and this past mid-week they suffered another postponement when league leaders Congelton Town were due to visit Shifnal for a Midland League Cup Quarter-Final fixture which was postponed very late in the afternoon because the heavy rain had caused standing water to build up on the pitch.

Shifnal’s dangerman is Joe Cuff who has scored twenty goals so far this season in twenty-six appearances and is the main goal threat, their next highest scorer is Josh Thomas with six in his fourteen appearances this season.

Darlaston meanwhile after their record breaking win against bottom club Bewdley Town last Saturday have trained well this week and manager Dean Gill will be looking to continue his teams good form in tomorrow’s fixture. There may be some injury concern’s for tomorrows fixture, some players will more than likely require fitness tests and there are availability issues so manager Dean Gill and his management team will have to make some decisions over selection once again.
