Tomorrow Darlaston travel to local rivals Wolverhampton Casuals for yet another local derby in the Midland Football League Premier Division. The teams met recently in the Moldwel Products League Cup, at the Paycare Stadium, Casuals winning 3-1.

This season things have not gone to plan at Casuals, having played nine games, won their first game of the season last Saturday, drawn three and lost five and currently sit in 16th place, one place above the relegation places.

Since the midweek 3-1 win against Darlaston, Casuals have played three games, firstly the first of two home games, against Chelmsley Wood at their Brinsford Stadium in the Isuzu FA Vase beating their lower league opponents 3-2 with goals from Tom Hurley, Kamren Smith and Benny Wilson. The following mid-week Casuals welcomed managerless Atherstone Town to Brinsford Stadium and were held to a 1-1 draw, Kamren Smith once again on the score sheet early in the first half with Atherstone’s Tom Smith scoring just before the half-time interval.

Last Saturday Wolverhampton Casuals travelled the short distance to take on local rivals AFC Wulfrunians at their Castlecroft Stadium, inflicting a big defeat over their rivals 6-0 having been 4-0 up in the first half, goalscorer were Tom Hurley and forward Colin Smith with a brace each, Stanley Mugisha and Kamren Smith once again.

Clearly in recent games Kamren Smith is in fine form scoring goals on a regular basis along with Tom Hurley who is on five for the season, three from the penalty spot, Colin Smith has scored three times in four games along with ex-Darlaston forward Stanley Mugisha who scored three in six. So, Casuals have a real positive goal threat.

Darlaston meanwhile returned to winning ways on Wednesday evening with a 6-1 win over Tividale after suffering their first loss of the season at Highgate United last Saturday. Dean Gill and his squad will certainly want to right the wrongs of the Moldwell Products FA Cup loss at The Paycare Stadium.

Tomorrow sees the start of a really important run of games in October for Darlaston, and because both teams will want a positive result out of tomorrow’s fixture, it should be a great game for the spectators.

Kick-off is 3.00 p.m.

The match is being played at:
