Match Preview

Darlaston Town welcome Whitchurch Alport to The Paycare Stadium tomorrow for the first time, in a Midland Football League Premier Division clash. There is always something special about The Paycare Stadium hosting a game under lights.

Whitchurch are in outstanding form having won five of their last seven league games and currently sit top of the Form Table with Darlaston in third place just behind them. Tomorrow night’s game offers a fantastic opportunity for a neutral to come and see what non-league football is about.

Free scoring Whitchurch are currently mid-table having played 23 games, won 11, drawn 3 and lost 8 with +10 goal difference. Since the turn of the year, like most clubs, they have played very little football. On New Years Bank Holiday they beat local rivals Stone Old Alleyians 5-0 away from home at Stone. Their only other game in January was the last Saturday of the month when they travelled what must be their longest journey of the season to play Racing Club Warwick on their 3G surface. Unfortunately, Alport lost 2-0 to the team that currently occupies second spot in the league table.

Following the loss against Racing Club Warwick, the following Tuesday Whitchurch welcomed Lye Town ground who were on a 14 game unbeaten run to their Yockings Park ground. Whitchurch won 4--1 Jordan Evans scoring in the first half followed by three second half goals the first by Nicky Parker followed by two in the last 5 minutes of normal time Alex Hughes and Junior Brown were the scorers.

Last weekend Whitchurch welcomed Romulus and secured another important 2-1 win. Nicky Parker and Jordan Evans both were on the scoresheet for the second consecutive week.

Over the season so far Alex Hughes is the danger man to look out for with 18 goals in 17 games, followed by Jordan Evans with 9 in 26. Whitchurch Alport will give Darlaston’s squad a really difficult test tomorrow.

Last Saturday Darlaston played their third game in six weeks against Chasetown XI consisting of fringe fist team players as well as some of their U23 squad, Darlaston winning 4-2. The valuable game gave players time to improve their match sharpness, and with the exception of one player being suspended and Reece Mason recovering from his shoulder surgery every other Darlaston player will be available including the new signings, therefore manager Dean Gill will have a selection headache for tomorrow’s fixture.

Tomorrow’s game will be the start of a big February for the team with big games to be played, and tomorrow is the first one, therefore your continued support will have a big part to play in the team’s success this season.

The match will kick off at 7.45 p.m.
Gates will open at 6.15 p.m.

The bar will be open from 6.15 p.m. serving its usual hot and cold menu and we look forward to welcoming many new faces to The Paycare Stadium tomorrow evening.

Admission - £6.00 Adults, £4.00 Concessions, Children Under 10 free

Programme - £2.00 – A teamsheet will also be available in the bar prior to kick-off.

W hope to see as many Darlaston sup[porters at the Paycare Stadium tomorrow evening.
