Tomorrow sees the end of Darlaston’s first ever season in their 149 year history at this level of football within either the National League system, or historically Midlands Football.

Subject to results tomorrow, Darlaston will finish no lower than 5th, but could climb the table further dependent on a win tomorrow together with other results, which in any event is an absolutely outstanding achievement, being as it is the clubs first season as such a significantly higher level as we know now, than most of us have ever played or been involved with previously.

Tomorrow’s opponents are Tividale who happened to be our opening day opponents in the Emirates FA Cup, and they dished out a stark warning as to the level of football required in this Division back on 5th August last year, thumping Darlaston Town 4-0 at their Paycare Stadium.

Things have changed as the season has gone, as they invariably do, Darlaston are currently 5th whereas Tividale, after a difficult patch of form are in low mid-table in 14th place having won thirteen of their thirty-seven games, drawn seven and lost sixteen with a goal difference of -10.

They travel to The Paycare Stadium across the Black Country tomorrow via The Black Country Route looking to extend their unbeaten run to seven matches by winning tomorrow, a real good way to sign off the season. Their recent results include fixtures against Stourport Swifts which was drawn 0-0,but 5 consecutive wins against Romulus, Uttoxeter Town, Wolves Casuals Market Drayton, and last Saturday at Castlecroft home of AFC Wulfrunians, goals coming from Jason Wood and Arman Khoshkhoo who scored in the 90th minute to give Tividale the big win.

Darlaston meanwhile have returned back to winning ways and are being rewarded for their outstanding performances, following wins at Lichfield on their 4G pitch last Saturday, and a 7-2 thumping of Lye Town at the Payacre Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Two good footballing sides will play at the Paycare Stadium tomorrow and that should produce a good game for both sets of supporters who will want their team to sign off the season with a win.

Gates open at 1pm as always along with the Bar which will be serving its usual hot and cold food throughout the afternoon.
