After the disappointment of two consecutive losses, Darlaston will be looking to get back to winning ways when they travel into Shropshire to play Shifnal Town tomorrow at their Acoustafoam Stadium.

Shifnal Town are currently 6th with just six games to go to the end of the season. They are five points behind Darlaston having won sixteen games, drawn nine and lost seven. When the teams met earlier this season Darlaston won 3-2 after coming from behind scoring two goals in the last 10 minutes.

Shifnal throughout the first part of the season wereregularly in the top four, if not there permanently, but since Christmas results have been more difficult to come by.

In their last six League and Cup fixtures Shifnal have drawn, won and lost two games each. The six game run started with a 2-0 home win against Wolverhampton Casuals, followed by a mid-week 3-0 home loss to fellow MFL side Whitchurch Allport in the semi-final of the TJ Vickers Premier County Cup.

Shifnal returned to league action with a trip to Tividale which ended in a 1-1 draw which was followed by a return to winning ways with a 4-0 win at Stone Old Alleynians, Darlaston’s conquerors last Saturday. A trip into Birmingham to play on the 4G pitch at Romulus saw a 2-1 loss. Last weekend Shifnal were at he Acoustafoam Stadium where they entertained mid-table Highgate, the game ending in a 1-1 draw.

Shifnal’s main dangerman, as it has been for years is Tom Hill who has scored fifteen times this season, followed closely by Jeremy Abbey on twelve and Tyrone Ofori has scored seven times. Tomorrow will be yet another hard relentless game one thing that will happen as it does every game Dean Gill’s side will work hard and do everything they possibly can to earn every point they can..

Despite Wednesday’s loss at league leaders Walsall Wood, Darlaston’s squad trained on Thursday and will be desperate to get back to winning ways. The squad is carrying some injuries, Kieron Miller is likely to be out of action until after Easter with an ankle injury, as is Liam Smith with a hamstring injury. Several other players are carrying knocks suffered in the last two games and there are sure to be fitness checks prior to Saturday’s game, which is being played at :

Whilst we understand that it is a big ask for Darlaston supporters to follow the team for three fixtures in one week, we cannot stress the impact that supporters have over the management team and players, who were delighted and so thankful to see so many Darlo supporters at Walsall Wood and Stone last week.
