Darlaston tomorrow will travel to the north of Wolverhampton for their final game in their run of three away games, when they take on local rivals Wolverhampton Casuals for yet another big game.
Wolverhampton Casuals are in their second season in the Midland Football League Premier Division after being promoted in the FA’s re-organisation in the summer following Covid in 2021. Last season Casual’s their first in this league finished 17th in a 19 team league, avoiding relegation and this season they are in 18th place, one place and two points above the relegation zone and will therefore be looking to secure a win tomorrow, Which would go a long way to securing their safety for next season.
Of their 28 games played so far, Casuals have won 6, drawn 5 and lost 17 and when the sides met at The Paycare Stadium back in September Darlaston won 1-0 with a goal from Keiron Miller in what was a very close game.
In their last six games, Casuals have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 2, beating relegation rivals Worcester City 2-1 at The County Sports Ground followed by a second away win at Stourport Swifts 3-2. Casuals returned to their Brinsford Stadium for two consecutive home games resulting in two draws, 0-0 against Stone Old Alleynians and 1-1 against AFC Wulfrunians, Roger Bosio scoring the all important goal. Casuals then played two away games, promotion chasing Shifnal Town losing 2-0 followed by a Midland Football League cup game in mid-week losing 1-0 at Lichfield City. Goals appear to be Wolverhampton Casuals problem only scoring 23 so far this season, which is the second lowest total in the Division and manager Adam Pearce
will be sure to be looking to put that right in the coming weeks, as the leagues transfer deadline for the season is 5 pm on Thursday 23rd March.
Darlaston meanwhile, after a fantastic 4-0 win against Worcester City last weekend, will be at full strength for tomorrow’s fixture with no availability or injury issues, so manager Dean Gill will be faced with a selection headache, especially after the last weekends excellent win and Darlaston’s management team and squad will be looking to continue their unbeaten run, especially at this time of the season.
But, as we say every week, no game is a given in this division and unless Darlaston are anywhere near their best tomorrow, they are unlikely to get anything out of the fixture, knowing that Casuals are capable of beating the best in the division after travelling to league leaders Walsall Wood and winning 1-0 since Christmas.
The game is being played at:
The Brinsford Stadium
Brinsford Lane
WOLVERHAMPTON
WV10 7PR
Kick-off is 3.00 p.m.
Entrance – Adults £8.00, Concessions £5.00, Children under 16 £2.00 and there will be a programme on sale.
We hope that many Darlaston supporters will make the short journey to the North of Wolverhampton and look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
