Match Preview

Simon Cox9 Dec 2022 - 12:04

After missing the last two Saturdays Darlaston tomorrow return to league action at Studley at Studley Sports Centre on a 4g surface.

Teams have met in recent seasons Studley beating Darlaston in a Second Round FA Vase at the beginning of the 2020/21 season at the Studley Sports Centre. At that time, they were playing in Division One of the Midland Football League, but during the FA reorganisation of steps 3-6 at the beginning of last season Studley were moved sidewards into Division One of the Hellenic League where they finished the season as champions after seeing of the challenge of Worcester Raiders who finished runner-up 6 points behind, earning promotion. The FA once again moved them sideways back into the Midland Football League, this time within the Premier Division.

Like ourselves Studley are adjusting to life playing at a higher level, going into tomorrow’s game they are in mid table in 10th position having played 20 games the most in the division, won 9 drawn, 3 and lost 8 with a goal difference of -1 securing 30 points just two points behind Darlaston, who are six places above them in the table in 4th position.

Studley’s recent form in their last six games has produced 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 losses After 5 consecutive home game at the beginning of November, the games have produced a 3-1 loss to Bewdley Town, a 1-1 draw against Worcester City. A fine 1-0 win against promotion chasing Stourport swifts, a 2-0l win against inform Droitwich Spa from Division One in the League Cup and the final game of the run a 0-0 draw against Uttoxeter Town. Last weekend a trip to bottom club Market Drayton produced a 5-2 win.

Dangermen for Studley include Daniel Carter who has scored five goals this season, along with Alfie Bloomer and Jayden Pryce both and the rest of Studley’s 16 goals have been shared around the squad members. Tomorrow’s opponents have a settled squad and are a very good footballing side and will, of course present a significant challenge to Darlaston Town tomorrow who will have to be near the best to get anything from the game

Darlaston, meanwhile returns to action after 17-day break on Tuesday evening to draw 1-1 at Tividale in the League Cup but Darlaston lost out 4-3 on penalties to exit the competition. The game proved to be exceptionally good run out before tomorrow’s return to league action, there are no reports of injuries or availability issues. Therefore, Darlaston are expected to be at full strength for tomorrow’s trip to Studley kick off 3 pm.

Entrance is £7 for adults, £4 for concessions.
