After two consecutive away games on a Saturday, Darlaston return to The Paycare Stadium tomorrow afternoon when they welcome Romulus for a Midland Football League Division game. The teams have already met this season in the Isuzu FA Vase at the end of September when Romulus progressed into the First Round proper with a 4-1 win.
Romulus having had their season disrupted by success in the Isuzu Vase are currently in mid-table in 11th position having played 15 games, winning 8, drawing 1 and losing 6 and are currently three points behind Darlaston with a game in hand. In recent weeks Romulus’s form in the league has been exceptional winning four out of their last six league games but suffering heavy losses against Lye Town and Highgate United. Their last three league fixtures have produced a 1-0 win at Wolverhampton Casuals, a 3-1 win at Uttoxeter Town followed by a 2-1 win last Saturday at Worcester City.
In mid-week they lost heavily 4-0 at home to Coventry Sphinx in the Birmingham Senior Cup.
Romulus’ top scorers so far this season are Owen Watkins with 5 goals in 13 games 4 of which have come from the penalty spot, followed by mid-fielder Ryan Andrews on 3 goals from 15, Cameron Lee 3 goals from 13 but new signing Luke Shearer looks to have signed for Romulus from Bromsgrove Sporting, is sure to be a threat in front of goal at this level.
Darlaston meanwhile, after suffering the heartbreak of Wednesday evenings loss at Emirates FA Cup giant killers Alvechurch in The Birmingham Senior Cup losing on penalties 8-7 after Alvechurch scored an equaliser in the 90th minute, Darlaston’s Manager Dean Gill will have no problems in raising the spirit of his players for tomorrow’s game as they will look to avenge their Isuzu FA Vase exit at the end of September.
There are no major injury worries or availability issues for tomorrow’s fixture, therefore Darlaston will be choosing from a fully available squad in the hope that they will secure the points on offer tomorrow. They will start the fixture once again as underdogs, despite their lofty 4th place, as the experienced Romulus management team lead by the astute Jason Lanns, together with the experience within the playing squad playing at this level or higher, means that once again Darlaston will be up against it and as always will need to be at their very best to compete with tomorrows visitors.
Kick-off is 3.00 p.m. Gates open at 1.00 p.m. as usual with the bar serving its pre-match hot and cold food within a warm and welcoming bar area. The bar will remain open during the game and certainly after the game when the supporters can mingle with the players of both teams.
Entrance is £6.00 Adults, £4.00 Concessions, Children Under 10 Free
Programme will be available for £2.00 each.
We hope to see many supporters at the Paycare Stadium tomorrow afternoon to support Dean Gill and his squad in their quest to secure Step 5 status for next season.
