This week has been the first time in six weeks when Darlaston have not had a mid-week game, the first team squad have been able to rest up and enjoy 7 days without a game, players have been able to rest, refuel and have treatment on those niggly knocks and strains the just wont go away when you are playing three times in eight days
For their return to action Darlaston travel to the historic picturesque town of Warwick to play against Racing Club Warwick in a Midland Football League Premier Division fixture.
The teams met earlier this season in August, the game ending in a 1-1 draw and the teams could not be separated and the game ended 1-1. Dominic Dell scored for Darlaston just seconds before half-time and Racing Club Warwick equalised late on in the game from a Josh Parson penalty.
Racing Club Warwick are just below midtable in 15th place having played 3 games less than Darlaston, 13 in total, winning 6 drawing 2 and losing 5 and with a goal difference of -1. In their last 6 games they have won 2 and lost four, 3 of which were cup games.
The 6 game run starts in mid-October as like Darlaston Racing Club have been playing twice weekly for some time. On Saturday 15th October Racing Club Warwick beat Shifnal Town 2-1 ending a good run of results for the Shropshire club. Next up the following Tuesday Racing Club faced a long trip to Uttoxeter Town, the trip proved fruitful securing a 2-1 win with goals from Archie Hamp his second in consecutive games and Colin Smith. The following Saturday in the F.A. Vase, Racing Club Warwick welcomed Dunkirk for a First Round tie and ended up losing 2-1 to their Combined Counties opponents, Archie Hamp once again on the score sheet for Warwick.
The following Tuesday Paget Rangers travelled to Warwick for an MFL League Cup game. A much changed Racing Club Warwick team exited the competition at the first hurdle to their Division One opponents when they were beaten 2-1 by Paget, Ben Tomlinson scoring from the bench for the home side.
Last Saturday Racing Club Warwick travelled to Tividale, the trip proved fruitless as they were well beaten 4-1 at the Beeches, Hannibal Sallami scored the consolation goal, two of Tividale’s goals were scored late in the game.
This mid-week in The Birmingham Senior Cup Racing Club entertained Step 4 side Coleshill Town, losing 2-0 to their lofty opponents.
Racing Club Warwick have a new dangerman in Archie Hamp who scored three goals in seven games with Josh Parsons the current top scorer on 7 followed by Josh Parker on 5.
Darlaston meanwhile, after having no mid-week game and the squad having rested and recuperated although they have trained twice this week. After last weekend’s 3-1 win at Bewdley Town with results going their way Darlaston rose to second in the table, where they have remained this week even though there have been some mid-week games with two fixtures being postponed.
I know Dean Gill and his squad will be raring to go for tomorrow’s game looking forward to getting back into action.
The match will kick-off at 3.00 p.m.
