Darlaston tomorrow are set to travel across the Black Country to the Beeches, home of Tividale Football Club for yet another Midland Football League Premier Division fixture. After Wednesday evenings great result against 4th place Shifnal, Darlaston’s management team and the squad are sure to be looking to capitalise and look to continue their good form and avenge their 4-0 defeat in the Emirates FA Cup on the opening weekend of the season at the Paycare Stadium.
Tividale are currently mid-table in 10th position having played 12 League games, winning 5, drawing 2 and losing 5 with a goal difference of -1. In their last 6 games, five of which have been played at home Tividale have won 3, drawn 2 and lost 1. In the Isuzu FA Vase on the last Saturday in September Tividale beat Abbey Hulton United from The Northwest Counties League 1-0 to progress into the Third Round Qualifying where they have secured a home tie in the draw against United Counties League Division One side Radford.
Tividale returned to league action the following mid-week when they welcomed Highgate United to the Beeches but ended up losing 5-1 to a rampant Highgate forward line. The loss was soon forgotten inflicting a 2-1 win over bottom club Market Drayton, followed in mid-week by a 2-2 draw against Bewdley Town.
Last Saturday saw yet another draw, this time 1-1 against Uttoxeter Town their final home game in a five-game run. Tuesday evening saw a trip to Worcester City, when an outstanding performance produced a 3-1 win.
Tividale’s dangerman is forward Daniel Smith who has scored 6 goals in 10 starts this season. He is followed by Zacharlas Kourouyianni who has scored 3 in 12 games. There are a further 8 players with at least either 1 or 2 goals each in the remainder of the squad.
Tividale will present another hard fixture for Darlaston’s squad tomorrow and certainly as the league shapes up the further we get into the season, it is quite evident that every team in the division is capable of beating everyone else, So once again Darlaston will start as underdog’s and will need to be at their very best to get something out of tomorrow’s game.
Following Darlaston’s 3-2 win on Wednesday against Shifnal, once again there are reports of players carrying knocks and strains, but none of succumbed to major injury which is testament to the plans and processes put in place before the start of the season, together with the wonderful work of the physio team to ensure that the management have, with the exception of Andy Nichol who will be missing for the whole of the season, has kept the squad available for selection for most games.
The squad welcomes back young goal keeper Harvey Coley after a short loan spell at Bartley Green Spartak, Harvey is the only addition to the squad in time for tomorrow’s fixture which kicks off at 3.00 p.m. at:
