Tomorrow evening Darlaston return to The Paycare Stadium after two consecutive away fixtures for their first mid-week home game under lights of the season, when they welcome 3rd placed Shifnal Town for a M|FL Premier Division fixture.
Shifnal have started the season well in their 10 league games so far, they have won 6, drawn 3 and lost 1 with a goal difference of +6. In their last six games and Cup games their record is 4 wins, a single draw and loss
The last six games started with a trip to Lye Town where they won convincingly 3-0 in mid-September. The following Saturday they took a break from League football to travel to The Pringles Stadium to beat Nuneaton Griff 3-0 in the FA Vase.
After a blank mid-week they returned to Premier Division football the following Saturday when they welcomed bottom club Market Drayton Town to their Acoustafoam Stadium, beating their visitors 2-0. The following Saturday, the first in October, Shifnal suffered their last defeat at the hands of current second placed club AFC Wolfrunians who beat them convincingly 5-0.
Shifnal then travelled to Stourport Swifts, winning 1-0 the winner being scored in the 88th minute by Tom Hill. Last Saturday Shifnal drew with Lichfield City 2-2 at their Acoustafoam Stadium, Shifnal coming from behind twice to score the equaliser in the 80th minute in what was an exciting fixture.
Shifnal’s danger men include Tom Hill who leads the scoring charts with 5 goals in 7 games, closely followed by Tyrone Ofori who has notched 4 goals in 7 games and eight other players have also scored either one or two goals so far this season.
Meanwhile Darlaston, despite playing well in recent games, have not received the rewards and results their efforts deserved, especially Saturday’s trip to Whitchurch Allport. The squad have trained this week and several players are carrying knocks and strains; therefore selection will not be a straight forward process for manager Dean Gill for tomorrow night’s fixture which kicks off at 7.45 p.m.
Gates open at 6.00 p.m.
Entrance £6.00 Adults, £4.00 Concessions
The bar will open at around 6.15/6.30 p.m. and will be selling its usual pre-match hot menu with cobs also on sale.
This is the first opportunity for Darlaston supporters to see a game under lights this season at The Paycare Stadium and with no other games on locally, hopefully a good crowd is expected, especially with playing third placed in the league and local opposition.
