Tomorrow Darlaston Town travel into Shropshire looking to end their losing streak with a trip to Whitchurch Alport for a Midland Football League Premier Division fixture, having lost their previous three games by a single goal.
Tomorrow’s opponents are one place above Darlaston in the league table having played two games more. In their eleven league games so far this season they have won 5, drawn 1, and lost 5 with a -3 goal difference, having conceded 20 goals so far.
Whitchurch, in their last six league fixtures, have won two games and lost four. The run started in mid-September losing at home to second-placed AFC Wulfrunians 5-1, followed by a trip to bottom-placed Worcester City at the time saw Worcester beat Whitchurch 2-0 for their first win of the season.
The following mid-week Whitchurch welcomed Racing Club Warwick who after a long journey to the game returned home having been well beaten 5-2 by their hosts.
A trip to league leaders Walsall Wood followed the following Saturday, Walsall Wood winning narrowly 3-2 to keep up their good start to the season.
Whitchurch travelled again for their next game, this time into the Black Country for a mid-week game at Lye Town securing a 1-0 win, Jack Tomlinson scored the winner just before the half-time interval.
The most recent league games have Whitchurch lose 3-1 at home to Studley 3-1 last Saturday and they suffered another loss last Monday evening at Romulus losing 2-1 after taking the lead.
Whitchurch Alport’s danger men are Alex Hughes who has scored 5 goals in 8 games, along with Jordan Evans who has scored 4 in 11 starts. The remainder of the goals have been shared out amongst the squad with 8 other players having scored at least once.
Darlaston, after a much-improved performance at Atherstone Town in midweek, were punished for a single mistake in the first half and will be looking to return to winning ways as soon as possible with tomorrow being the next opportunity. The squad as usual trained yesterday evening and a few players picked up knocks and strains with the intensive fixture list playing once every 3 or 4 days for the past 4 weeks, which will continue until the end of this month.
Kick-off is at 3.00 p.m.
