Tomorrow Darlaston welcome Bewdley Town to the Paycare Stadium for a Midland Football League Premier Division fixture, the last of three consecutive home Saturday fixtures.
After the first defeat of the season on Tuesday evening at the hands of Stourport Swifts, Darlaston’s management team and squad will be looking to get back to winning ways as soon as possible, but as always in this league, nothing is a given, because Bewdley Town are sure to provide an extremely stern test as they are managed by a joint management of Chris Corns & Ryan Rowe, both are well known to Darlaston’s supporters because of their connection to Worcester Raiders.
Bewdley are currently in mid-table in 12th position having played 8 games, winning 3, drawing 1 and losing 4. Bewdley have exited both Emirates FA Cup and Isuzu FA Vase at the first hurdle losing 2-1 to Racing Club Warwick in the FA Cup and 4-0 to fellow MFL Premier Division side Lichfield in the FA Vase.
In their last 6 games, Bewdley have beaten Studley 2-1 on August Bank Holiday Monday, followed by an exciting 4-4 draw against Uttoxeter Town at their Ribbesford Road home after being 3-1 down at half-time, some turnaround. This was followed by a great win at Claines Lane the home of Worcester City beating their local rivals 3-0. Mid-September saw two consecutive losses both away from home, 3-2 at Stone Alleynians having been level at half-time and a 4-1 loss at Highgate United.
Last Saturday Bewdley were without, but in mid-week they beat West Midlands Regional League Division One side Warstone Wanderers 2-0 in The JW Hunt Cup.
As always, Bewdley carry a goal threat and traditionally over recent years they have had a least two prolific scorers within their squad. This season is no different, Ben Worthington is already on 6 goals in 11 games and Dylan Hart who returned to the club from Lye Town has scored 4 goals in 5 games.
Therefore, tomorrow’s game will be an interesting fixture with Bewdley’s high scoring attack and Darlaston’s good defensive record.
Darlaston meanwhile, after losing out to Stourport Swifts on Tuesday evening conceding two goals in the last 10 minutes, trained yesterday evening and there are no major injuries but some players are carrying knocks, which is understandable given the intense amount of fixtures the club has played in September. Therefore depending on fitness manager Dean Gill is likely to have some section issues for tomorrows game.
As always at the Paycare Stadium om matchdays, the gate and bar open at 1.00 p.m. The bar will of course be serving it’s usual pre-match hot food and the now celebrated cobs.
Admission is as always: Adults £6.00, Concessions £4.00 (over 66 years old and Children aged between 10 and 16). Children Under 10 Free
A colour 32 page programme will be on sale at £2 each available from the gate
We look forward to seeing as many supporters as possible tomorrow, to support the lads in continuing their good start to the season.
