Tomorrow at The Paycare Stadium, Darlaston welcome “The Racers” Racing Club Warwick for a Midland Football League Premier Division clash, which promises to be a very interesting game, when the only unbeaten two teams in the Premier Division that are on maximum points with two wins each.
In Saturday’s Isuzu Vase, Racing Club Warwick beat Bilston Town 1-0 playing with 10 men for 56 minutes and Darlaston Town beat Hellenic League side FC Stratford 3-0 both in the First Qualifying Round of this seasons competition.
Racing Club Warwick joined The Midland Football League inaugural season in 2014/15, placed in Division One where they remained until finishing second in 2018/19 season when they earnt promotion in their own right into the Premier Division.
After the following two seasons being affected heavily by COVID, last season was the first in the Premier Division where in a 36 game season they finished 14th out of 19 teams winning 12, drawing 6 and losing 18, with a goal difference of -10.
So far this season, despite playing five games in total, four games have uniquely been played against just two clubs. In The Emirates FA Cup they beat Bewdley Town 2-1 in the first qualifying round and in the second qualifying round they were beaten by a Lee Chiltern outstanding free kick by Stourport Swifts. Ironically in the League however, with both games being played at home on the artificial surface, on opening league day a Dillon Parker goal was enough to beat Stourport Swifts in front of an attendance of 215 and following in midweek Bewdley Town travelled to the Racing Club ground and returned back to their Riverside ground after a 5-1 defeat with goals from James Hancox, Dillon Parker once again, Connor Mart and a brace from Carl Templeton. Once again in front of a crowd of over 200 spectators. Yesterday The Racers beat local rivals Bilston Town 1-0
With regular games in cup competitions at this early stage of the season, League form is somewhat difficult to maintain, therefore the importance of a win at tomorrow’s game for Darlaston cannot be underestimated and we hope that the game will be paid in front of the seasons largest attendance so far.
Following yesterdays 3-0 win at FC Stratford, Darlaston’s management team is bound to juggle their pack ensuring that players are as fresh as possible for today’s really important fixture. There were no injuries reported following Saturday’s game and therefore manager Dean Gill should have a fully fit squad available for selection.
Kick-off is at 3.00 p.m.
Gates will open at 1.00 p.m. as normal and the bar serving its usual pre-match menu, entrance £6.00 adults, £4.00 concessions.
We look forward to seeing as many Darlaston faithful as possible.
