After what seems an exceedingly long pre-season campaign we are finally here at the beginning of the 2025/26 season

Tomorrow afternoon Darlaston Town begin the competitive season with a trip to Hellenic Premier League side Pershore Town for an Emirates FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie.

Last season Pershore Town finished in 8th position winning nineteen of their thirty-eight games. At the end of the season the club parted ways with their manager Danny Janes during the closed season and have appointed a new management team lead by Manager Devin Ward and his assistant Ashley Banner.

Ward has had to build a new squad during pre-season which was successful winning four of their five warm up games, the only loss a 4-0 reverse to Step 3 side Stourbridge.

Last Tuesday evening Pershore started their league season with a 3-1 defeat at Westfield, substitute Ewan Carter scoring in the 89th minute.

Darlaston have travelled to Pershore Town before, ironically on the opening day of the 2019/20 season under Andy Parkes. This was the first season that was curtailed due to COVID. The clubs met in the West Midlands Regional League and played out a 1-1 draw. Pershore taking the lead just before the half-time interval and Reiss Nadat scored for Darlaston on the half-time whistle.

It is so difficult to predict any games at this stage of the season, players are still being recruited and signed, squads are gelling, tomorrows game on paper looks like its two brand new squads which proves prediciting the result to be impossible. But what we can say Darlaston’s Management Team have worked tirelessly to try and recruit the correct players both on and off the field to benefit the club.
