Tomorrow evening at 7.30 pm old rivalries are renewed when Sutton Coldfield Town visits Darlaston Town for the first time in 30 years.
Darlaston Town (1874) is the phoenix club of Darlaston Town and was re-formed in 2013 following the demise of the "old" club. Back in season 1981/82 Darlaston last met Sutton as they finished bottom of the West Midlands Regional League Premier Division and were relegated to Division One whilst Sutton finished runners-up and were promoted to the Southern League North winning promotion to the Premier Division.
Since then their paths have not crossed with Darlaston now members of the Midland League Division One whilst Sutton play two leagues higher in The Pitching In Northern Premier League Midlands Division.
A mouth-watering contest is expected. Darlaston has opened their pre-season campaign in good form with two wins and a draw whilst Sutton played their first pre-season game of the campaign on Saturday going down 2-0 against higher league opposition in Bromsgrove Sporting.
