Darlaston play tribute to a talented successful player

Darlaston Town are extremely saddened to be informed current player Tom Turton is hanging up his boots.

Tom Has had a long and successful career in local non-league football and has played a big part the success partially at Alvechurch under the stewardship of Ian Long and last season at Halesowen Town where he was part of another promotion winning squad.

Although Tom has not played many games for the club during the two seasons, he has played in the Darlaston colours, Tom has been a big influence on the younger players, and his input in our promotion winning season in 2021/22 cannot be understated and we will be forever grateful.

Tom’s last ever game was last week at Rugby Borough, when he orchestrated a record breaking win in the Birmingham Senior Challenge Cup playing in his typical defensive midfield role, Darlaston won 10-3 and Tom even got on the scoresheet with a trademark blistering finish. The images used with this article were taken during the game.

Tom you will be missed, but we certainly don’t want you to be a stranger, may we wish you and Laura all the very best in your future endeavours.

On losing the talented midfielder Manager Dean Gill said this morning “ I wish Tom and Laura all the very best, Tom played a massive part in our promotion season playing 8 games scoring 2 including a sweet goal in our playoff semi-final win over Dudley Town in front of 800 at the Paycare Stadium.

In the 15 starts Tom made for me I don’t believe Darlaston we lost a game - Good luck Tom.
