The Citizens are back on the road tomorrow travelling to the historic city of Warwick to play Racing Club Warwick in a Northern Premier League Midlands Division fixture.
Both clubs are well known to each other having both played in the Midland Football League Premier Division before the FA moved The Racers sideways into The United Counties League. Following an excellent first season Racing Club were promoted after finishing runners-up in the division and winning the play-offs at the end of last season and are very much the same as ourselves finding our feet at a much higher level than we have played at before.
Racing Club Warwick go into tomorrow’s game siting in mid-table in 11th position, winning eleven of their twenty-six games so far this season and suffering thirteen defeats.
Recent form for both sides is very similar. The Racers have won three, drawn three of their last six games whereas Darlaston have won three, drawn one and lost two, and as we know Darlaston’s form has currently slipped after securing a 0-0 draw to Shepshed Dynamo’s at home last Saturday and were well beaten on Wednesday evening by an excellent Anstey Nomads side a 4-2 at the Paycare Stadium.
Racing Club Warwick were without a game in mid-week and therefore will have rested up from their 3-0 loss at Loughborough Students last Saturday, but their previous two league fixtures have resulted in an excellent 2-0 win at Coleshill Town and a second win at home over Bedworth United 4-2. They have also beaten West Bromwich Albion in The Birmingham Senior Cup at Townsend Meadow.
Last season’s club top scorer Lewis Monaghan currently sits second in the scoring charts at The Racers with six goals so far this season, Max McNulty heads the table with seven and they are both followed by Archie Hamp, Josh McKenzie Talini Omatola all on four.
After suffering a defeat at home on Wednesday evening, manager Dean Gill and his management team and squad will be looking to re-group and rally to try to get back to winning ways as soon as possible, because February is a key month in the season with seven league fixtures, with three games at The Paycare Stadium and four away, starting tomorrow.
