Shepshed Dynamo are the visitors to the Paycare Stadium tomorrow for the first of four key games in 14 days for The Citizens

Simon Cox24 Jan - 13:01

Darlaston are now starting a key run of games which will go a long way to deciding their season.

Darlaston Town welcome Shepshed Dynamo to the Paycare Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a Northern Premier League fixture kick off 3 pm

This is the first of four key games inside a two-week period for the Citizens with three of the four games at home.

The clubs met at The Dovecote the home of Shepshed Dynamo in mid-October Darlaston winning 3-1 thanks to goals from Rivel Mardenborough, Lewis Gill and James Rowland both from the penalty spot, following the loss Shepshed changed their manager and appointed Gary Drake who started the season as Assistant Manager at Rugby Town.

The appointment of Drake brought an upturn in results winning three of the four games following his appointment. But since mid-December in their last six games The Dynamo’s have secured four losing at home to Bedworth United, promotion chasing Ansty Nomads (who visit the Paycare Stadium on Wednesday) and away at Boldmere St Michaels and league leaders Quorn last Saturday. Shepshed’s only win was a 3-0 at the Dovecote and they drew bottom club Grantham town in a local Derby on New Year’s Day.

Top scorers for The Dynamo this season are Tristan Dunkley with five Kyle Dixon with four and three goals are four players Jude Collins Jesse Friend Aaron Korpal and Chad Timpson.

Darlaston supporters know only too well there are no easy fixtures in this league and any recent form home or away doesn’t matter, and for any team to get anything out of any game they need to be at their best, Saturday will be no different.

With no midweek game Darlaston’s Management Team will have worked their players as hard as normal, at least twice to ensure they are fit and ready for not only Saturday’s game but the upcoming fixtures against Anstey Nomads Racing Club Warwick and Coleshill Town.

After the news yesterday Solihull Moors Academy Manager Mike Fowler has joined Darlaston, along with the promotion of Ian Homer from Coach to Assistant Manager this is bound to give the club and squad a big boost as they enter the business end of the season and these appointments will enable them to continue their push for promotion.

The club announced a number of incentive packages this week which will start this weekend to increase attendances and we hope that the local community will get behind the club, it is hoped many Darlaston supporters will introduce friends, family, work colleagues, neighbours and acquaintances to the club and non- league football.

As always, the gate and the bar open at 1 pm, the bar was serving its usual pre match hot and cold food.
