Everyone at Darlaston Town is saddened to hear of the passing of Rose Burley. Rose battled with Parkinsons and then Alzheimers for the last few years.
Before retiring as a councillor in May 2026, she represented Pheasey, Darlaston South and Bentley and Darlaston North for 31 years, becoming Mayor of Walsall in 2021/22.
Following the demise of the original club, Rose attended the first public meeting of the new club on 4 September 2013. She immediately volunteered to become a committee member and club director and served the club diligently for more than 10 years.
former chairman Neil Chambers said " Rose was the "voice of reason" on the committee ensuring we always followed due process and did things right. She fulfilled many roles at the club but will be best remembered for her role behind the bar. She rarely watched the football as she was behind the bar on most matchdays for many years.
It would be fair to say that Rose was not a natural behind the bar but she did so unselfishly, allowing the rest of the committee to watch the football. Always a smile and a kind word for the customer. She represented the club and Bentley & Darlaston superbly and will be greatly missed by us all.
She was very supportive of me, was always reliable and on time and had a wicked sense of humour. Everyone at the club send their love and condolences to Rose's family and friends."
One minute's silence in honour of Rose, will be held before our Birmingham Senior Cup tie versus Dudley Town on Tuesday ( 26 October),
