There was a fantastic atmosphere at the Paycare stadium as we welcomed friends & neighbours FC Darlaston for a local derby that truly showcased everything that is great about grassroots football.
The overwhelming feeling throughout the evening was one of togetherness. Supporters from both clubs turned out in huge numbers, creating a passionate atmosphere and demonstrated how much football means to our town.
The match itself was played in an excellent spirit, with FC Darlaston getting the better of the early exchanges and deservedly taking a 1-0 lead into half time with a goal from the impressive young forward George Lycett.
Darlaston gained control, dominating possession after the break and scored the equaliser through Wayne Mubayi before Mac Lee scored a penalty to give Darlaston Town the victory 2-1.
A huge thank you must go to every fan who came through the gates showing their support to both teams and we hope to see you more regularly at the Paycare stadium over the coming season. Your support made this a friendly to remember.
