This Thursday 8th November at Brinsford Stadium home of West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division side Wolverhampton Casuals, will see probably one of the biggest games this season taking place, kick off 7.45 pm An entrance fee of £1.00 is being charged.
Dean Gill manager of Wolverhampton Casuals and local referee Ajay Sharma has arranged a charity game between a Non-League Football Managers VI against a Referees XI. All proceeds will be donated to the Whistle Foundation. Also, during the game there will be a collection of and sealed or unwanted food, together with any toiletries to be donated to the Good Shepherd Ministry.
Now some may say that doesn’t sound that interesting but believe me it will be, you see you are going to have 22 players on a field, all of which think they can play the game better than most.
You will have the managers who constantly tell their players how to play the game week in week out, now the players have the chance to see exactly if their gaffer/boss is as good as he says he is. Referees are no different they all think they can play the game they control every weekend.
So be ready for some interesting tackles, and mistakes, it promises to be a great evening’s entertainment.
The Managers team will be controlled/managed by Dean Gill, assisted by Sam Plant. There is a rumour going around that our own Mr Darlaston Gil Preece is part of Dean Gill’s backroom team and will be on the bench. Deans squad included the like of
Andy Parkes & Scott Moore - Darlaston Town (1874)
Jason Lann - Paget Rangers
Paul Smith - Redditch United
Dale Belford - Romulus
Mark Simpson - Shifnal Town
Quent Townsend - Stourport Swifts
Danny Carter & Steven Hill - Wednesfield
Neil Tooth - Sutton Coldfield
Ian Rowe, Ross Miller and Richard Upton - Sporting Khalsa
Jason Owen, Lee Turton, Ryan Mason & Stewart Baker - Wolverhampton Casuals
Scott Hamilton - Bilston Town
Ian Long & Richard Colwell - Alvechurch
Wayne Spicer - Black Country Rangers
Gary Drake - Dunkirk
Matt Clarke - Halesowen Town
Darren Pearson - Old Wulfrunians
The Referee’s XI is obviously a close guarded secret, I have trolled around social media for at least 5 minutes this afternoon to try and find out the Ref’s squad. The only mention of a team/squad was maybe as I could not find anything on Social Media as to the likely squad members.

But what I did find was that Select Group 2 Referee Steve Martin is the man in the middle for the game and set to control the evenings events on the pitch
