This morning the Directors and Committee of Darlaston Town have this morning reluctantly accepted the resignation of Manager Dean Gill.
Dean has been responsible for the clubs most successful ever period, overseeing some fantastic achievements including two promotions through play-off final victories.
After joining the club just after COVID, in the first season the club were promoted out of Step 6 after beating Stapenhill 2-1 in a play-off final at The Paycare Stadium to earn the right to play in Step 5 for the first time in the clubs 150-year history.
Two seasons later after a nine-game winning run at the end of the season, culminating in a 3-1 play off final win at Lichfield City, earning a second promotion and into Step 4 the Northern Premier League, which saw a seventh-place finish in the Midlands Division in the clubs first ever season at this level.
This season after being moved sideways by the FA into the West Division the club has once again had many new experiences and played at grounds we would have never dreamt of 10 years ago, all this down to Dean, his staff and players.
On behalf of the club the Directors, Committee and Supporters would like to whole heartedly thank Dean for all his efforts not only on the field but off it also. The last five years will live in the memory of everyone connected with the club for ever.
THANK YOU DEAN
On accepting Dean’s resignation Interim Chairman Anthony Follows said "It is with great unwillingness that we have this morning accepted the resignation of first team manager Dean Gill. Dean has done a fantastic job and taken the club to unthinkable levels in a relatively short period of time. His contribution to the club both on and off the field has been remarkable and has never received the plaudits it so rightly deserves. We wish Dean nothing but the best for the future whatever that may be".
