Its been a very busy week at Darlaston Town with new players coming in, one new loan, one extended loan, three new signings, one just before Christmas and we said goodbye to three youngsters who returned to their EFL clubs.
We’re delighted to welcome Emilio Ballard-Matthews to Darlaston on an initial one-month loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers. A first-year professional and England Under-16 international, Emilio joined Wolves in the summer of 2023 and featured on the first-team bench soon after arriving from Watford. We would like to thank Wolves for their help in making sure Emilio will be available for tomorrows fixture at Stafford Rangers.
Joining us on loan for the remainder of the season is Billy Corns from Solihull Moors. Billy has already spent the past three months with us and continues to improve week on week. This is a really positive signing for the club, and Billy will also be available for tomorrows visit to Stafford Rangers.
We’re also pleased to confirm that Sam Smith returns to Darlaston on a permanent basis from Sutton Coldfield Town. Sam was with us last season on loan from Solihull Moors and knows the club well. He will be available for selection for the Stafford Rangers game.
Ashley Carter has joined us on a dual registration from Bromsgrove and featured in our win against Trafford over the Christmas period. Ashley will again be available for tomorrow’s game.
Mikel Brown joins the club on a permanent basis. Although unattached recently, Mikel has previously played at West Bromwich Albion, Walsall and Shrewsbury Town as a youth player but more recently for Bromsgrove Sporting, Rushden & Diamonds and Gloucester City last season, bringing valuable experience to the squad. He will go into tomorrow’s match day squad.
We also say thank you and farewell to Will Etheridge and Paul Macavore, who return to Walsall FC following short-term loan spells over the Christmas and New Year period. Both lads made important contributions during their time with us and were a credit to themselves, their club and their families. We wish them every success and hope to see them again later in the season.
Finally, Eddie Lake returns to Port Vale after a short spell with us over Christmas and the New Year. We thank Eddie for his efforts and wish him all the very best for the future.
