Darlaston made the long trip to Ellesmere Port for their first ever visit to Vauxhall Motors.
The visitors made a dream start or at least they thought they had when they were awarded a penalty after just eight seconds. Straight from the kick off Walsall loanee and debutant Paul Makavore chased the ball into the box only to be pushed to the ground by a defender. Typical of their luck at the moment, for the second week running the penalty was missed, keeper Trueman diving low to his left to parry away Cook's spot kick.
Within three minutes Darlaston went behind. A cross from the right found Nathan Sandison unmarked his angled volley from 12 yards finding keeper Amos' bottom left hand corner. things went from bad to worse as, after only 8 minutes Darlaston found them three goals down.
Firstly on 7 minutes, Conor Harwood headed home a right wing corner, within a minute Vauxhall broke down the left the ball eventually falling to Rushton who drilled home low and hard from 16 yards through a crowded goal mouth.
So after just 8 minutes the game was virtually over it was now a matter of pride as to how Darlaston responded for the next 82 minutes, Despite being shellshocked the visitors gradually regained their composure, settled and regrouped. There were no further first half goals and the visitors went in to the half time break with a little pride restored.
Any hopes of getting any kind of foothold back in the game disappeared when Vauxhall added a fourth on 57 minutes, Harwood with his second goal of the game.
The scoring was completed on 69 minutes Kyle Sambor on target with a deft finish.
Darlaston huffed and puffed, never giving up but the first minute penalty miss and going three goals down in 8 minutes was irrecoverable.
