The weekend of 8/9 January proved a successful weekend for Darlaston Town (1874) FC as their adult teams and youth teams recorded 7 wins and 1 draw from their 8 weekend competitive league games. The club played teams from far and wide across the country including from Northamptonshire, Shropshire, Coventry, Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Sandwell.
The weekend started on Saturday morning with 2 youth team victories in the Midland Junior Youth Premier League. The Under 14s recorded a 4-3 win against Sky Blues In The Community whilst the Under 18s beat Brackley Town 2-1 to set the club off onto a flying start for the weekend ahead.
On Saturday afternoon the first team won 2-1 against Shawbury United in the Midland League Division One in front of a crowd of 255.
On Sunday morning in the Walsall Junior Youth League, three of our Under 13s teams recorded wins against Four Oaks Saints, Diamonds Academy, and AFC Willenhall. The fantastic weekend for the club was concluded on Sunday afternoon when Darlaston Town Ladies drew 2-2 with Sandwell Ladies in the West Midlands Regional Women's League Division One North.
It is unbelievable to think that just seven years ago the club had just one adult male team and now they have 14 youth teams, a ladies team, and an adult male team. The future is looking bright.
