Next Tuesday evening sees the rearranged Bilston Town U14 Floodlit Challenge Cup Semi final against Shelfield United (Whites). The tie was originally due to be played on Tuesday 22nd January, but fell foul of the weather.
The winners of the semi final will go on to play either Stourbridge or Wyrley Juniors Panthers who meet on Tuesday 19th March.
Darlaston Town’s new youth setup has been a huge success this season, the eight teams that came together to join the club last summer have been playing within their leagues and cups since the seasons start in September.
We are delighted to announce Sid Addo and Mick Horton’s U14’s Vipers team has made the semi-finals of the highly presidios Bilston Town U14 Floodlit Challenge Cup and face Shelfield United (Whites). The semi final is to be played on Bilston’s main Queen Street ground next Tuesday Evening 5th March under lights kicking off at 7 pm.
Your support for the future players of Darlaston Town would be gratefully received, come and see Mick, Sid and the lads and hopefully cheer them on to the first final for a Darlaston Town 1874 youth team.
If anyone needs further details, please email the club on general@darlastontown1874fc.com
Bilston Town’s Floodlit Challenge Cup sponsored by Bilston Rotary Club is a unique competition, a Junior Cup Competition played at various Junior Football ages starting at U11’s. The competitions were started in the 2009/10 season and is the only midweek junior competition in the country where every game is played under floodlights.
Being involved in this competition is a huge thing for youth teams, its one of the few chances youth players will ever get to play under floodlights in a competitive match within a semi-professional football stadium.
Each age group is limited to 32 clubs, clubs travel from all over the Midlands to take part, and over the years places in the competition have been highly sought after, with some age groups having waiting list for teams wishing to enter.
The winners not only received the prestigious title of the Floodlit Cup Winners but also the trophy and the title of Midlands Champions along with a £100 prize supplied by the sponsors Bilston Rotary Club
