After Darlaston’s unbeaten start to the season came to an end in Saturday’s local derby against near-neighbours Bilston Town, Dean Gill’s squad will be looking back to winning ways when they travel to Sutton Coldfield Town's Cole Lane ground to play Paget Rangers on the astroturf pitch.
The teams met at the Paycare Stadium at the end of May, Darlaston winning 7-0, but tomorrows nights game will definitely not be the same, as both squads have changed personal, Paget especially.
Paget Rangers are situated in mid-table having played eight games, one less than Darlaston, winning three, drawing one and losing four. So far, their games have been evenly split with four home and four away.
The first two games of the season they were at home beating Cradley Town 2-1 with Ryan Kimberley and Revel Mardenborough scoring the goals. The following Tuesdays they beat fellow Midland League regulars, Heath Hayes, 1-0 with Ryan Kimberley once again on the score sheet.
The first away trip of the season saw them travel to Ashby Ivanhoe where they suffered their first loss, a 4-1 Revel Mardenborough scoring his second goal of the season.
The following Saturday Paget welcomed Wolverhampton Sporting to their home ground, losing 1-0 to a Tabari Maxwell goal.
For the second game on the trot Paget played another new side, this time away at the Beeches against Khalsa Football Federation, they beat the bottom club 2-1 with goals from Lesley Omorodion and Timothy Oyanda securing Paget’s third win of the season in their opening five games.
OJM Black Country travelled to Paget on Bank Holiday Saturday and inflicted a 4-1 defeat on their hosts, Ryan Kimberley scoring his third goal and only goal of the afternoon for Paget.
Fort eight hours later on Bank Holiday, Monday Paget played the first of two away games, the fist saw started a run of two away games, 2-2 at Chelmsley Town Jarrell Hylton and Lesley Omorodion scoring the goals.
Last Saturday Paget Rangers travelled to the Mark Webster Community Stadium to play title contenders Atherstone Town. Alex Naughton’s hat trick ensured the home side took the points with a 4-1 win.
Darlaston meanwhile are getting over Saturday’s loss to Bilston, I am sure Manager Dean Gill will have galvanised his troops, no major injury worries have been reported and Darlaston will of course continue to be without long-term injury victims Matt Pinder and Leon Taylor who were both at the Bilston game and Matt Pinder is progressing well after having surgery. We hope to have both forwards fit and healthy sooner rather than later.
With no fixture, this coming Saturday Manager Dean Gill will be looking to maximise the return from tomorrow’s game to keep the pressure on league leaders Atherstone who are at Heath Hayes tomorrow evening as well as playing in the FA Vase this coming Saturday.
The ground address for tomorrows game is
Sutton Coldfield Town FC, Central Ground, Coles Lane, SUTTON COLDFIELD B72 1NL.
Entrance - £5.00 adults, £3.00 concessions and £2.00 for under 16’s.
