Darlaston return to league action tomorrow with a trip to fourth placed Studley

Simon Cox22 Dec 2023 - 13:00

It's 4th -vs- 5th tomorrow afternoon, a big game for both clubs. let's travel in numbers to support the lads

The big games keep coming for Darlaston Town after Tuesday’s fantastic win against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Darlaston now can focus on league football through the Christmas period and well into the New Year.

Starting with a huge game at 4th placed Studley tomorrow who started the league season well winning five of their opening six games, but as the season has progressed Studley’s results have dipped probably due to all of the postponed fixtures all clubs have had to endure.

Presently Studley have played 18 games winning nine, drawing three losing six and have a goal difference of 12, one better than Darlaston, who are a single point behind playing three games less.

Their last four league games were a 1-1 draw at promotion chasing Uttoxeter Town, Zack Guinan opened the scoring in the first half and Uttoxeter equalising mid-way through the second half.

Next up for Studley was a trip to resurgent Atherstone Town who beat their visitors 2-0, Studley returned to their home base entertaining Northwich Victoria winning 2-1, Reiss Taylor-Randell opening the scoring, Romario Martin scoring from the penalty spot to give Studley the 2-1 win over Northwich. However, the win was blighted after Taylor Eades received a straight red card in the 80th minute.

Last Saturday Studley travelled to Dudley Town and played out a 0-0 draw, George Baker received Studley’s second straight red card in consecutive weeks Ex-Cheltenham Town striker Zack Guinan leads the scoring charts with eight goals so far this season, followed by John Mills on five, Dan Noke with four along with Romario Martin and ex-Darlaston Town forward Tyler Buck who are both on four goals, Tyler will be missing tomorrow’s fixture having been loaned out by Solihull Moors to Lye Town for a month.

Games between the two sides last season were entertaining, Darlaston travelled to Studley in mid December and played out an entertaining 2-2 draw, a game in which both teams could have won, Rivel Mardenborough and Harry Higginson scoring for Darlaston and in the return fixture in March at the Paycare Stadium Darlaston ran out 2-0 winners Keiran Miller and a late Lewis Gill goal secured the points.

Studley will be pushing for promotion at the end of the season and will be looking to secure a play-off place and as always tomorrow’s fixture will be extremely difficult as there are no easy games in this league.

Darlaston meanwhile have recovered well following Tuesday evenings win against Wolverhampton Wanderers. They held their “Christmas Jumper” training session last night and will be looking to three games within eight days over the festive period.

There are a few players carrying injuries and knocks and therefore the make-up of manager Dean Gill’s squad will no doubt be left to the last minute to give all players the best opportunity of being fit for one of the most important games of the season so far.

The game is being played at:
Studley FC
Studley Sports Centre
Abbeyfields Drive
STUDLEY
B80 7BF

Directions to the Ground: From the M42 after you have left Junction 3 take the exit towards Redditch (A435). Head south for 5 miles, Abbey Fields Drive is situated on the left-hand side a quarter of a mile past the Boot Public House adjacent to a sharp left-hand bend.

There is plenty of free parking on site.

We hope as many Darlaston supporters as possible at Studley tomorrow to support the lads in such an important fixture.
