Darlaston pay tribute in memory of Leon Taylor

Following conversations with Leon's family the club issue an appeal for food bank donations

Thursday next week, 24th November 2022, is the first anniversary of the passing of Darlaston Town 1874 player and great friend, Leon Taylor.

In his honour, the club along with his partner Kelly and children together with Leon’s family and the Pastor of his family church in Willenhall, have decided to support the Food Bank run by the church that benefits the local community.

The club are appealing for donations of non-perishable food items, suggested items include:

All tinned products such as Vegetables, Meat, Tomatoes, Pies, Fruit and Soup, along with Baked Beans, Spaghetti etc.
Dried Mash Potato, Pot Noodles, Rice, Dried Pasta, Chocolates, Sweets, Nappies, Toilet Rolls, Washing Up Liquid, Soap, Shampoo, Toothpaste, Shower Gel, Cleaning Products and Personal Toiletries

All items should be brought to The Paycare Stadium, Bentley Road North, WS2 0EA the collection point is located within the entrance foyer to the LT9 Bar where donations can be left.

Donations can be made every weekend on Saturday between 9.00 a.m. and Noon together with other times that the club is open beginning at 9.00 a.m. this Saturday 19th November 2022, when Darlaston also have a league game during the afternoon.

On the launch of the donation point last night, Leon’s Nan Naomi Stewart said “I just wanted to say thank you to Darlaston’s Manager Dean Gill and Darlaston Town 1874 FC for their generous and charitable donations to the food bank at New Testament Church of God Willenhall Tabernacle. We are a charity organisation so all of the food that is donated will be for those who come to the food bank from the community who are struggling with their finances at present and not able to feed their families. So, we are happy to help and support the community when they are referred to us by other charitable organisations.”

The club will work on behalf of the food bank for the foreseeable future to help the local community.

Therefore, on behalf of Leon’s family and the club, we thank you for your support in this very worthwhile cause.
