Darlaston Ladies welcomed Wyrley Ladies to the Paycare Stadium on Sunday in their third West Midlands Regional Women's League game of the season.
The management team had a full squad to select from, sand with a storming finish to last week's game confidence was really good in the squad prior to the game.
Darlaston started the game well, scoring early after some clever football in the middle of the park, Laura Avery’s through-ball found winger Stacey Arrowsmith who made no mistake in front of goal. 1-0 to Darlaston.
The home side continued to put pressure on the Wyrley defence with midfielders Emily Smith and Laura Avery linking up well, Jodie Barber who was playing out wide her delivery into the opposition penalty area caused real problems for the visitors.
The second goal of the game came from a clever through ball this time from Beth Arrowsmith, her threaded pass found Lauri Alexander who skipped past the oncoming goalkeeper and finished well. 2-0.
The final goal of the half was a second for Skipper Alexander whose pinpoint free-kick curled past the Wyrley keeper. To give Darlaston a 3-0 lead which they held until half-time.
Darlaston’s management team called for much of the same second half and were not disappointed after another good ball from Beth Arrowsmith played in Stacey Arrowsmith who made no mistake for her second and Darlaston’s fourth of the game.
Beth Arrowsmith notched up another 2 assists, this time for winger Jodie Barber scoring two brilliant goals from out wide. 6-0. The final goal came from some good play from winger Drew Harris whose cross fell to Jess Nash for a well-deserved goal to finish the game 7-0.
Credit has to be given to the Darlaston defensive line as well as keeper Gemma James who dealt well with a pacey Wyrley winger and maintained their well-earned clean sheet.
Player of the Match was awarded to Emily Smith for another solid performance in the middle of the park.
