Before the game and in the presence of Frank's family, one minutes applause was held following the recent passing of former player, coach and supporter Frank Twitchen.
The game itself was settled in the opening 45 minutes, the visitors going into the break three goals to the good.
In a difficult swirling wind Darlaston had the first chance of the game Jaanal Gordon, shooting wide from 8 yards.
Within minutes the visitors exposed Darlaston's defensive frailties. Alfie Bairstow putting them ahead on 9 minutes.
The home defence were struggling to cope with the aerial presence of the imposing figure of Freddy Garbutt and Thomas Hoyle as the visitors played some neat attacking football. With the wind at their backs the visitors looked to press forward at every occasion.
For the home side Kieron Berry, Pharrell Anderson and Gordon combined well on several occasions but could not breach a solid Witton defence, superbly marshalled by Bairstow, with central defensive partner Geffry Ebhore a colossus winning every header and sweeping up loose balls.
Further first half goals from Garbutt and Joe Duckworth put the visitors in a commanding position.
It was imperative that Darlaston made a good start to the second half in an attempt to claw themselves back into the game, and they did. Unfortunately, they missed a couple of chances to reduce the arrears Gordon and Anderson both failing to convert.
At the other end, some superb skills by Garbutt saw him beat three defenders to create an opportunity for himself, but his finishing did not match his approach play, shooting high over the bar from 16 yards.
Further chances fell to both teams, the best falling to Gordon hitting the post from 10 yards, none of the chances were converted, the visitors professionally managing the game to a conclusion and a comfortable win.
