The Directors of Darlaston Town (1874) FC and Darlaston Town FC have appointed a new committee to be responsible for the day to day running of the first team which operates under the name of Darlaston Town FC Ltd.
Many supporters will know most of the new committee which includes current Club Directors Simon Cox and Bob Jones, manager Dean Gill, sponsor and supporter Scott Russon, former player and supporter Anthony Follows, sponsor Jonathan Rowland, Debbie Rowland and Lee Gill. Further committee members will be appointed as necessary.
The committee, while remaining accountable to the Directors, have been given full responsibility for the day to day running and administration of the first team. They will also be responsible for matchdays, including increase all revenues and commercial activities, increase attendances and improve the matchday experience for all supporters and sponsors.
The current group of volunteers will continue to undertake their current responsibilities and support the new committee in every way they can.
Darlaston Town (1874) Ltd Chairman, Neil Chambers said " We believe this is a positive and exciting step forward. It is great to have a new group of people, cast fresh eyes over what we have been doing and look to implement new ideas and initiatives that will improve the experience of anyone who comes to watch home games.
The committee, all have the best interests of the first team and Darlaston Town FC at heart, and we are delighted that we have such good people, pushing ahead with important priorities for us.
We have known for a while that we need to improve commercial activities, and we believe new blood with plenty of business acumen will help us do that.
Additionally, the committee will look at ways of improving attendances and the matchday experience. Following our promotion to the Northern Premier League last season, the league undertook a "secret shopper" exercise to assess our fan experience, which was reported back to us. Whilst the report was generally positive there were areas for improvement and again the committee will look to prioritise the areas for improvement identified in the report.
The Directors of Darlaston Town (1874) FC have agreed to review the progress and position of the new committee at the end of the year; we wish them all the very best and will do everything we can to support them".
