A preview of the big local derby on Boxing Day when Darlaston travel to Sporting Khalsa

Simon Cox24 Dec 2024 - 11:24

A game that both sets of supporters have been looking forward too, and after recent results the game takes on an even large importance for both clubs

Everyone is now looking forward towards Thursday’s Boxing Day fixture when we travel the 3 miles up the Black Country Route to play Sporting Khalsa in our first ever league fixture between two clubs.

Everyone will have memories of last years Emirates FA Cup tie that was televised on BBC and the replay following Wednesday night that the Paycare Stadium over the two games just over 2,000 people watched both clubs give their all, only to be separated by penalties.

It’s 4th vs 5th in the league the clubs are both on 35 points, Khalsa having played a game more than Darlaston with 11 wins 2 draws and 8 losses from their 21 games, the clubs are only separated by a single goal, not only is the Boxing Day Result important for local bragging rights but also for both clubs league campaign. A win for Darlaston will secure safety from relegation the clubs priority this season whereas 3 points for Sporting Khalsa will push them closer to their goal of promotion. But when it comes to local derby’s recent form goes out the window, the winners are usually those that want it the most.

Dangermen for Sporting Khalsa are the free scoring Simeon Cobourne with 15 goals (11 in the league) so far this season he is third in the league scoring charts, fellow forward Andre Lundell has 9 and midfielder Robbie Bunn has seven.

I’m sure every Darlaston Town supporter knows their way to the Guardian Warehousing Arena, kick off is at 3 pm.
Admission Adults £8 Concessions £5 Under 18s £2.

A large crowd is expected for such a big local fixture and it’s another superb opportunity for die hard supporters of both clubs to bring family fellow family members and friends to experience and to see what non-football has to offer.

We hope everybody has a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all once again on Boxing Day
