Another Tuesday training session as Manager Parkes readies the squad to take on Willenhall Town

We haven’t mentioned or featured training for a while, so from now on, there will be weekly updates, photos and videos released, to see what the team, coaches and Manager have been up to midweek.

Tuesday evening saw the lads put through their paces once again as Manager Andy Parkes keeps driving the players to ensure the work rate and intensity remains high. Twenty-Two players reported for another two-hour session, Manager Parkes and his coaching staff using pre-planned sheets ran the session with the usual enthusiasm and organisation, this week’s session partly focusing on finishing, especially after missing thirty chances in last Saturdays game against St. Martins, which of course helped to sharpen the keepers at the same time.
During the session Parkes and his coaches look to work on not only improving team play, but also individual players as they looked to put across different ideas, whilst applying the final touches in preparation ahead of the home game against Willenhall Town this Saturday, we caught up with The Citizens manager after training and he had this to say:

"The coaches and players alike have worked exceptionally hard again tonight everyone knows what's expected of them now. We set the standards high early doors in pre-season, we know as a group we must keep raising the bar, and pushing on. Therefore, in order to play in the next game a players selection does entirely depend on their last performance, but also the intensity and how an individual player trains”.

He added “The squad looks in good shape and we are improving all the time. It was a good session the lads look hungry and focused. We have a few players out at present with knocks and injuries, but we have two players coming back from suspension, one suspension finished after the St. Martins and is available for selection this weekend, the other ends after Saturday’s game, so therefore will be available for the Tipton Town game. Every player is fighting hard and the competition for places is healthy the twenty-two lads here tonight worked there socks off, I can't ask for anymore. Everyone is looking forward to Saturday's game and hopefully another good performance and another three points".

The week the squad will also be training on Thursday evening a hard-conditioning session taken by Timo, (Craig Timmins) a specialist fitness coach from CTS Fitness, Timo will also be looking at working with the players recovering and returning from injuries.
